asbestos abatement

          Asbestos Inspection and Testing:

  • A licensed asbestos inspector conducts a thorough assessment of the property to identify the presence of asbestos-containing materials.
  • Samples are collected and sent to a certified laboratory for testing to confirm the presence of asbestos.

          Development of Abatement Plan:

  • Based on the inspection and risk assessment, a comprehensive abatement plan is created. This plan outlines the scope of work, containment measures, engineering controls, safety procedures, and a timetable for asbestos removal.

          Containment:

  • To prevent the release of asbestos fibers into the air, the work area is sealed off using plastic barriers and negative-pressure containment systems.
  • Air monitoring equipment is installed to continuously monitor asbestos levels during the abatement process.

           Cleaning and Decontamination:

  • After removal, the work area and adjacent spaces are thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated to ensure no asbestos fibers remain.
  • HEPA vacuuming and wet wiping are common methods used in this step.

          Final Inspection and Clearance Testing:

  • An independent asbestos inspector performs a final inspection and air clearance testing to verify that the asbestos levels are below regulatory limits.
  • Once clearance is achieved, the containment barriers can be removed.

          Occupant Notification:

  • Building occupants are informed about the abatement process and safety measures, and they may need to vacate the area during the abatement.
